Full disclosure: I am a former student who has read most of his published output. I am also extremely stingy with my 5-star ratings, especially when it comes to academic texts.Even if you disagree with some or all of Taylor's conclusions, this book is bound to be a resource for scholars with an interest in the relationship between commerce, money, and music over the last 100 years or so. In some ways, I read this book as a massive update and merger of the ideas from all of Taylor's previous mono [...]

This book was a fascinating look at the interactions and intersections of music, money, and late capitalism. I came away with a new and deeper way of looking at the music business and how it all works.
